PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF BANDWIDTH OPTIMIZATION IN IPV6 HEADER COMPRESSION

چکیده

The development of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) came with a larger header size 40-Byte compared the 20-Byte 4 (IPv4) which would have made IPv6 protocol bottleneck in data transmission over global network. Practically, given same user transmitted physical-layer network medium both IPv4-enabled and IPv6-enabled networks, speed be slower setup to IPv4 scenario, but bandwidth is optimized in-built compression technique makes it advantageous being deployed recent Operating Systems networking devices including switches routers. This performance evaluation focused on effect varying sizes packet by determining maximum throughput overhead percentage. These metrics were determined after simulation MatLab vR2021a. results then validated simple ping command Peer-to-Peer (P2P) connection between two Windows 10 Computer using Ethernet Category cable. output shows that despite higher IPv6, at faster rates, this due inherent feature IPv6.

Network Optimization of Ipv6 Networks Using Tunnel Header Compression

IPv6 is the successor internet protocol which will eventually replace IPv4. These two protocols are not compatible with each other and it will take time to migrate towards IPv6, until then both the protocols need to coexist for a long time. The main overhead involved with both the protocols is header length of 20 bytes in case of IPv4 and of 40 bytes in case of IPv6. This overhead will affect t...

Performance of RTP/UDP/IP header compression in cellular networks

A number of real-time multimedia services are being designed to operate over mobile end-to-end IP networks. Such services require the use of the Real Time Transport protocol (RTP) in order to provide acceptable Quality of Service at the receiver. The resulting RTP/UDP/IP headers however constitute a significant overhead, particularly at low-bitrate speech applications. This paper examines curre...

Performance of Header Compression for VoIP in Wireless LANs

The increasing number of Voice over IP (VoIP) phones in wired and wireless technologies leads us to the performance discussion of VoIP traffic in IEEE 802.11 WLAN environments. Originally designed to transport best effort data traffic, WLANs may experience some problems with delay-sensitive and low-rate voice traffic. This paper investigates the Voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) capacity for different W...

Implications of Oversized IPv6 Header Chains

The IPv6 specification allows IPv6 Header Chains of an arbitrary size. The specification also allows options that can, in turn, extend each of the headers. In those scenarios in which the IPv6 Header Chain or options are unusually long and packets are fragmented, or scenarios in which the fragment size is very small, the First Fragment of a packet may fail to include the entire IPv6 Header Chai...
